Ultimately, just watch the movie for a better interpretation of the story. There is very little dialogue in comparison to a typical manga, so this is very much geared towards children. If you're a fan of Pokemon, you'll likely enjoy this but I don't think it's a must read by any means. I was already familiar with the story and this met my expectations, but did not impress me or add anything to the story.
